Information you provide to us: We collect information you provide directly to us. For example, we collect information when you register or log on to the Sites, create an account, subscribe to a Service, participate in any interactive features on our Services, fill out a form, take part in surveys, post on our message boards, upload any documentation, request customer support, make an enquiry, communicate with us by email, phone, or post, or interact with us on social media.
We will also collect your information when you partially complete and/or abandon any information inputted in the Sites, and we may use this information to contact you and remind you to complete any outstanding information.
Information we collect automatically: We may also collect information automatically when you use our Services. Every computer connected to the internet is given a domain name and a set of numbers that serve as that computer’s internet protocol (“IP address”). When you use the Sites, our web servers automatically recognize your domain name and IP address. The domain name and IP address reveal nothing personal about you other than the IP address from which you have accessed the Sites. We are able to see information relating to your browsing patterns and technical data about the equipment you use to access the website through the use of cookies, server logs, and other similar technologies. You can select your preferences from the cookie settings on any of our websites.
Mobile & Internet Banking Applications
Location Data: We may also collect location data from your device if you have enabled location services on your device. This information is used to provide you with location-based services and to improve our Services.
Audio and Video Data: We may also collect audio and video data from your device if you have enabled microphone and camera access on your device. This information is used to provide you with Security and interactive features while ensuring optimal service quality.
Facial Recognition and TrueDepth Data: Where supported by your device and enabled by you, our mobile applications use Apple’s TrueDepth API to obtain the device-generated facial depth and facial geometry information needed to authenticate you and bind your account to your device. We use this information only to verify that the person attempting to access the account is authorised to do so, to protect the account against fraud and unauthorised access, and to meet applicable regulatory requirements, including CBN requirements. The TrueDepth data is processed on your device for this authentication and device-binding purpose. We do not use TrueDepth data for advertising, analytics, profiling, or any purpose unrelated to account security.
The app also uses this to authenticate you for login and for authorizing transactions. This acts as an additional layer of security and an alternative to using a password or PIN. The app uses the device’s built-in biometric authentication features (Face ID or Touch ID) to verify your identity. This means that the app does not store your facial data or fingerprint data on its servers, and it does not have access to this data. The biometric data is stored securely on your device and is used only for authentication purposes.
The app does not send TrueDepth depth or facial-geometry data to OneUtility MFB (OneUMFB) or to third parties, and we do not store that TrueDepth data on our servers. The app does not use TrueDepth to create or retain a separate facial-recognition database. The data remains available only for the duration needed by the operating system and app to complete the authentication or device-binding transaction, after which the temporary processing data is discarded. Device-binding credentials or tokens required to recognise an authorised device are stored securely and are not facial images or TrueDepth depth data.
This TrueDepth process is separate from identity verification or BVN enrolment flows that use the device camera. In those flows, we may collect a selfie, liveness information, or other biometric information after you provide the required permission and consent. Those flows and their third-party disclosures are described in the Data transfers and sharing section below.
Device Data: We also collect device data from your device if you have enabled this feature on your device. This information is used to verify your identity, provide you with interactive features, secure your account, and to improve our Services.
Technical Data: We may also collect technical data from third parties or public sources such as analytics providers, identity verification providers, advertising networks, and search information providers. We may obtain contact, financial, and transaction data from providers of technical, payment, credit referencing, and delivery services based both inside and outside Nigeria. We utilise third-party service providers to secure information related to financial crime, fraud, sanctions, and politically exposed persons.
Data Ownership: We do not own the personal data provided and will only store such data for a period reasonably needed. We will do our best to ensure that such personal data is secured against all foreseeable hazards and breaches such as theft, cyber-attacks, viral attacks, unauthorised dissemination, manipulation of any kind, or damage by rain, fire, or exposure to other natural elements.
We will not sell, share, transfer, or rent out any personal information to others in ways different from what is disclosed in this Policy and our Terms and Conditions of Use. We may share generic information not linked to any personally identifiable information regarding visitors and users with our business partners, trusted affiliates, and advertisers.
